Exploring Climate

Children investigating Air Pollution Level using colours.

Children at Early Nurture Pre-School investigated measuring our local air quality learning about air pollution levels outside the preschool car park; they also learnt how this impacts our health.

Exploring First hand experiences in the community.

This week children are learning about cars, the boys have a huge interest in how cars function. Children are given the opportunity to explore the local petrol station and challenge their thinking further, by investigating how petrol is put into cars and how tyres get air into them.

(Children learn about population, pollution electrical cars and electrical charging points, children were given a explanation on why electrical cars are more beneficial to use).

Exploring Nature in the community

Children today went to visit their local community park to look at trees, and fruits that children had planted last term, learning about benefits trees bring to the environment improved air quality and habitats. They also learnt about organic eating and how they give us nutrients and how they develop in a more healthier eating habit later in life.

Children are beginning to developing a long term responsibility to care for their community environments.

Children learning about ways of reducing air pollution and keeping safe

Children from Early Nurture Pre-School looked at signs on the road, learning about keeping children safe in the busy area during school times.

Children today were learning about physical wellbeing taking a walk in their local community looking at vehicles that use electricity from batteries and charging points, and how they benefit us.

Looking at reduced air pollution and how it protects the environment by reducing carbon dioxide.

We are recycling within our Pre-School using different colour recycling bins.

Today children were learning about recycling at Early Nurture Preschool, “reduce, refuse, recycle” concept of using different bins for different recycling objects. Children had fun, hands on learning, and long term sustainability.

Collecting leaves from open green spaces within our community.

This week children were learning about the Autumn, they have been exploring green spaces within our the local community, collecting leaves from open spaces and reusing them and recycling them into everyday play, learning and creativity. Children were fascinated to experience exploring nature in many different ways improving their physical ability.

Children experiencing Animal Therapy at Pre-School

Children at Early Nurture Preschool experienced animal therapy, exploring chickens, guinea pigs, hens, roosters closely by touching, holding and comforting them in a safe environment and learning about real life experiences, how animals contribute to the environment and benefit us. Children were also showing care to the pony and took the pony for a walk learning the importance of physical excercise.

Exploring and looking for insects in the Pre-School garden

Children experienced touch with their hands feeling sensory stimulation and processing, by exploring animals and insects in green slime and jelly cubes; this activity was planned in line with children’s interests.

Furthermore children were challenged outdoors, continuing their learning to look for insects in the garden they found ladybirds and where fascinated by them they touched and explored closely counting the spots and explored body parts.

They also watched butterflies, bees and birds fly in the garden. They had a fantastic day exploring nature on a lovely summers day.

Exploring nature in our community park

Children were given the opportunity to watch the environmental team from the council cut the trees, children learnt that trees can be recycled and how trees benefit the environment.

Children learnt about risk assessments and workers working safely within the environment.

Patch Work Meadow Project and Love and Hope donated Books to families and delivered the Bee Project and Wild Flowers.

We thank the Lozells Community Forum and Alison from Patchwork Meadow for organising this wonderful opportunity for our children at Early Nurture Pre-School and working together as a network. The Patchwork Meadow had a discussion with the children about the benefits of bees bring long term, and how honey benefits children's health.

Children at Early Nurture Pre-School were involved in planting wild flower seeds for pollinators; the best way to encourage bees into our preschool garden.

The children enjoyed the learning process of planting and sequencing and taking daily care of plants.

The Lozells Forum kindly donated books and stickers to children and families who took part in the Patchwork Meadow Project, (a wider network created for families and new partnerships to collabrate together).

The books and stickers were given to the forum by the following organisations and networks; we give them a huge thanks for working with children and families at Early Nurture Preschool.
