Commitment to the SEND Co-production Framework and Charter:

At Early Nurture Preschool we are committed and adopt the term "SEND Co-production Framework" refers to a structured approach for the education and care of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This framework establishes a set of principles and a charter to guide collaboration between professionals, parents, carers, and children and young people, ensuring they work together as equal partners to achieve better outcomes for all. Key principles include sharing power, clear communication, and respecting the lived experience of everyone involved.

We use the Framework and charter: This is a guide that sets out how co-production is used and followed within our provision improving the SEND support and services and working collaboratively. It’s a collaborative process emphasizes everyone coming together from the beginning of a child’s process working together as equal partners, not just service providers and users. This framework is adopted and followed at all meetings as a template and a guidance as a hard copy and reflected on.

We at Early Nurture Pre-School gather information and through the early intervention stage using the 'graduated approach'(a continuous cycle of assess, plan, do and review) this helps to ensure that children receive an appropriate level of support and meets children's needs. This process is inline with the SEND-CO-Production framework character.

We support all families and children and make the appropriate referrals to all the relevant agencies such as Area SENCO team, Paediatricians, Family Hubs, Neurological pathway and health visitors, GPs, Occupational therapists, sleep counselling, Early Support Services, Audiology teams, and Physio therapists, SENAR, EP. We invite all professionals at review meetings and have general conversations and share information and come together as a team around the child and keep the family and the child at the centre of the picture meeting the needs of the child as equal partners all contributing to achieve the best outcomes.

This framework is designed to ensure that the voices of our young children with SEND are heard and respected within our provision.

Key principles and characteristics

Equality: We have adopted the ethos of all Professionals and families working together in an equal partnership to achieve shared outcomes on a regular basis through regular reviews and meetings and working collaboratively.

Power sharing: Decision-making power is shared between service providers and the public. We share the relevant information with the Area SENCO Team on a regular basis and apply for ISEY funding to meet the needs of all children within our provision. We invite all the professionals involved at regular reviews. Once the provision has identified a need, that requires a high level of support, a request is made by the SENCO Shabnum Bi at Early Nurture Pre-school and the draft is sent to SENAR, we then invite other professionals to carry out reports SALT, PD, NDP, EP, all this information is gathered shared with the family and sent with the request. Once the draft is finalised all the professionals are invited and discuss the EHCP plan with the parents and the appropriate schooling is supported with the parents. This information as a SENCO and SEND Governor is shared at transition and a smooth transition is carried out through a shared approach.

Respect: This involves respecting and valuing the lived experiences and perspectives of all individuals involved on an ongoing basis.

Communication: This framework promotes clear communication, avoiding jargon, and listening to each other in a respect manner and making realistic descions to support families and young children.

Shared responsibility: All parties share responsibility for the co-production process from beginning to end until the child and the family have received the diagnosis, the process is complete this is then transferred to the new transition schooling and remained as a shared responsibility with the agreement of the parents. Collaborative partnership will share the responsibility and improve better outcomes for the family and child working and supporting the needs of the child in different areas of development and family’s needs.

Benefits for all: The benefits of the work are shared among all those professionals involved.

Accessibility: Miss Bi at Early Nurture Pre-School involves going to the communities where people live instead of expecting them to come to you, this can involve home visit, meetings with other professionals at their provisions and networking.
